When To Elope In Boulder
Best Time Of Year To Elope In Boulder, Colorado
The best time to elope in Boulder is May to November. Here’s a breakdown of the different seasons in Boulder:
Spring Boulder Elopement
April & May
Spring brings a sense of renewal and vibrant colors to Boulder. From April to May, the weather begins to warm up, with wildflowers blooming in the foothills and parks coming alive. This is a perfect time for couples who appreciate a softer, romantic setting.
The nearby Chautauqua Park is particularly beautiful during this season, offering stunning views of the Flatirons and lush greenery. Just be prepared for some unpredictable weather, as spring can bring rain and cooler temperatures.
Summer Boulder Elopement
June to mid September
Summer is perhaps the most popular season for elopements in Boulder. With warm temperatures and long days filled with sunshine, this season, from June to August, offers endless opportunities for outdoor ceremonies.
Couples can choose from a variety of scenic locations, such as the iconic Pearl Street Mall or the breathtaking backdrop of the Rockies. However, summer can also bring crowds, so planning ahead is crucial to secure your ideal spot.
Fall Boulder Elopement
Mid-September To Mid-October
Fall transforms Boulder into a breathtaking canvas of colors. From mid September to November, the vibrant hues of changing leaves create a stunning backdrop for an intimate ceremony. This season is ideal for couples who enjoy a cooler climate and fewer crowds.
Locations like the Flatirons and the scenic trails of the nearby foothills offer picturesque settings, and the autumn light can provide a magical quality to your photographs.
Winter Boulder Elopement
November to march
Winter in Boulder offers a unique charm for those who donโt mind the chill. From November to March, the snow-capped mountains create a fairytale-like setting. If you envision a cozy elopement, the winter months can be incredibly romantic, especially in areas like the Boulder Mountain Park.
While it may be colder and some outdoor sites could be less accessible, the peaceful ambiance and potential for snow-covered landscapes can create a truly unforgettable experience.
Choose A Weekday At Sunrise Or Sunset
We always recommend having your wedding on a weekday (Monday-Thursday) to minimize the amount of tourists that will be in the area. Sunrise or sunset is the best time of day to elope for the most privacy and best lighting!
Be Aware Of Important Dates
To ensure a more intimate elopement in Boulder, it’s best to avoid key events that can lead to large crowds. Major gatherings include the Boulder Creek Festival over Memorial Day weekend and CU Boulder graduation ceremonies in late May. The Fourth of July celebrations and summer weekends featuring the Boulder Outdoor Cinema can also draw significant crowds. Additionally, the Boulder Fall Fest in late September and the busy periods around Thanksgiving and Christmas should be considered. Lastly, the ski season from December to January can increase local traffic, making these times less ideal for a quiet elopement. Be sure to check out the Boulder events calendar to stay updated.
