The Location

Mountain Wedding Garden is located at 911 Gothic Rd in Crested Butte, Colorado. The location is surrounded by stunning mountain views which guarantee a unique experience for you and your guests as well as jaw-dropping photos! The wedding venue is right in the heart of Mount Crested Butte, which is about 10 minutes from downtown Crested Butte, making it very convenient to access with restaurants and lodging nearby. It’s easy to get to, just steps away from the parking lot.

Mountain Wedding Garden is located next to, and above, a public park which has a playground and tennis courts. There is a little bit of separation between the public park and the venue as well as trees which allow for some privacy, however it is not totally secluded.

Ceremony Options

Mountain Wedding Garden offers both an outdoor ceremony space and a covered pavilion, which is ideal incase of rain and for receptions. The venue states that the garden (ceremony space) can fit up to 200 guests, but after being there in person we’d suggest a smaller guest count of up to 50 to have enough space. Plus, there is only a small parking lot that can fit maybe 25 cars total, which is also shared by the public park, playground and tennis courts.

The Pavilion is just a short walk up some steps from The Garden. This makes a good back up location incase of inclement weather, as well as a reception location.

The Reception Pavilion

There is a small open air building that they call the Pavilion just a few steps from the ceremony area that can be used for a reception. The great thing about this venue is that you can bring your own alcohol and you don’t need a license to do so, which will save you tons of money. It is important to note that there is no kitchen, so food will have to be made/bought elsewhere and brought in. Consider hiring catering from local companies like Timberline Chefs.

There are also various restaurants around town that offer small dinners and celebrations, such as Scarp Ridge Lodge. You can view our full guide on getting married in Crested Butte which outlines some of the best places for intimate dinners and receptions!

Mountain Wedding Garden Review

As elopement and micro wedding photographers, we want to provide our honest and unbiased review of the venue. We’ve been to the location in person and here are the key pros and cons to getting married at Mountain Wedding Garden:

Pros – It’s very affordable, beautiful and a lovely option for couples wanting to get married in Crested Butte with guests. It’s PERFECT for sunset photos!
Cons – There is a risk of noise/lack of privacy due to the other amenities nearby, but we did not personally notice this or have any issues when we photographed a wedding here.

Ultimately, this is one of the most affordable option for couples looking for an untraditional wedding with guests in Crested Butte! We’d highly suggest including an “adventure session” before or after your wedding day to explore the nearby areas and get those stunning landscape photos you’ve been dreaming of.
