Boulder Lake Proposal

We’d been planning this one with Alton for weeks. The goal: catch alpenglow at sunrise at a quiet lake just outside Boulder – that pink, pre-dawn light hitting the peaks while mist still rolled off the water. When we got to the lake to set up, we weren’t alone. A moose and her baby were already there, quietly going about their morning. We pivoted the plan slightly to keep our distance and stay out of their space – and honestly the best plot twist we could’ve asked for! Having them there, calm and unbothered while the sky turned pink behind the peaks, made the whole morning feel almost too cinematic to be real.

Chanlyn had no idea any of it was coming – not the proposal, not us, not the moose family quietly co-starring in her engagement story. The reaction was everything: pure stunned, pure joy, an easy yes. We came away with some of our favorite photos and videos of any Boulder proposal we’ve ever shot. Scroll down for the full gallery!
