The Farm at Old Edwards Inn is an enchanting venue tucked within the Blue Ridge Mountains of Highlands, North Carolina. The venue features a small lake and orchard with a rustic, yet elegant, vibe. There are no lack of photo-ops around the venue, we’re absolutely in love with it! We shot at Old Edwards Inn for the first time back in November of 2019 and we were absolutely thrilled when Brent reached out to tell us they were planning their wedding there!
We first met the couple in November when we photographed Brent proposing to Diane. He told her they were going out to a dinner, then surprised her with a photo shoot along the way at Black Balsam Knob! The real surprise of course was when he pulled out the ring.. you can check those photos out at the bottom of this blog! We are incredibly blessed that we were there to photograph their journey from proposal to marriage.
Diane and Brent first started dating when they were in high school. At the age of 16 he said to her “I’m not dating you to date you, I’m dating you to marry you.” All these years later they had the most gorgeous wedding in their hometown of Highlands, NC.
These two pulled off their wedding planning in THREE MONTHS! Yep, you read that right. Their advice to those planning a wedding now is to keep it simple, but don’t be cheap. They say that the professionalism of quality vendors changes everything (which we whole heartedly agree with!).
Their inspiration behind their décor was to capture a romantic yet simple atmosphere that reflected their relationship with a palate of white, gold and blush. The main goal was to capture the beauty of the venue while not over complicating things with too many intricacies.
Diane and Brent initially were not planning to have a first look, but then changed their minds the more they thought about the flow of the day. They realized that having a first look would allow for less stress and more time to take photos (which was important to them). In the end, the first look ended up being their favorite memory from their wedding! You’ll see why in the photos below!
I could go on forever about how sweet Brent and Diane are (and their entire family, too). However, I think the photos sum the day up pretty perfectly. Without further ado..
