The Atrium Wedding
The Atrium is an intimate, garden wedding venue located in Norcross, Georgia. Jennifer and Jonathan chose the Atrium for their wedding because they loved the intimate feel of the space and the outdoor garden. They knew we werenāt going to have a massive guest list (the venue’s capacity is 150) and the venue ticked all of the boxes because a lot of the planning process was done there and didnāt require a lot of outside vendors.
Since the garden was already beautiful, they chose to go along with the natural and earthy feel for their decoration. They kept the palette simple with greens and whites and pops of yellow to compliment the garden feel. Jennifer had wanted a little of the mustard yellow in mind to add subtle color.
About the Newlyweds
Jennifer and Jonathan used to work at the same accounting firm and had been friendly in passing over the years. One year, at a holiday work function, they spent more time talking amongst each other through a mutual friend and sparks flew! They started dating (going on actual dates around Atlanta) and everything just seemed so easy with each other. In their spare time, they enjoy traveling to the mountains, exploring food and breweries (North Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Colorado, Texas, and Colombia so far). They also enjoy cooking together at home and caring for their indoor plants!
With the pandemic casting a shadow of uncertainty on events, being able to adapt to regulations was important for them to move forward with their plans. They weren’t sure until 4 weeks outĀ how the venue would proceed with their response to COVID, so they had to check in regularly to see what restrictions were in place with the local government as they were rapidly evolving. Luckily, they were able to continue with the wedding while taking precautions such as having hand sanitizer available around the venue, vendors and even some guests wearing masks.
The Wedding Day
The forecast for Jennifer and Jons wedding day was completely clear, it was supposed to be blue skies and sunshine for their outdoor summer wedding. That was the case until right as we arrived to the venue! The craziest storm blew through out of nowhere. Like, so windy that a tree across the street blew over into the road!
We did find a backup area inside the venue for the photos, but it just wasn’t as nice as the gorgeous garden scene the couple booked the venue for. So, when Jennifer and Jonathan arrived we asked how they felt about still having the first look outside in the rain with a couple umbrellas. They instantly said they would love to, and we’re so glad they did! The couple actually ended up telling us that their first look in the rain was their favorite, most memorable moment of their entire day.
With most of the rain passing over and just a light sprinkle being left behind, the staff quickly dried off the chairs for the outdoor ceremony and the couple was able to have the outdoor scene they had dreamed of. They paid respects to their parents with a tea ceremony, exchanged rings and were officially announced husband and wife!
The reception was filled with heart warming toasts, yummy food, lots of dancing and good music (thanks DJ Savant!). The Atrium is a great venue for night photography since the garden is lined with string lights. We were so happy that the couple was willing to sneak out of the party for a few minutes to get some night shots with us! Lastly, as the night came to a wrap all of Jennifer and Jonathans family and friends sent them off with a tassel exit.
