How to elope- step 4/5! You chose your elopement l How to elope- step 4/5! You chose your elopement location, date and photographer! All the big decisions are done. Now it's on to some of the finer details and logistics. (Go back to steps 1, 2 and 3 if you've missed them!)

1) Book your lodging. Don't overlook your lodging, you’re not limited to a basic hotel room! We always recommend looking on AirBnB/VRBO/etc. to find beautiful and unique stays.

2) Hire any additional vendors + secure permits. Florist, hair and makeup, chef, tour guide, etc. Make sure to check reviews to ensure they are reliable and fit what you're looking for! Don't forget to look into if you location requires a permit and apply for that ASAP.

3) Plan your activities. For the most memorable and exciting day, consider adding some activities! This could be as simple as putting together a picnic of your favorite foods and drinks to enjoy as you watch the sunset, or as exhilarating as a helicopter tour!

4) Get your attire and gear. When you're trying on dresses/suits/whatever you're planning to wear, move around in them a bit. You'll want to walk/sit, any movement you might be doing on your wedding day and make sure that you'll feel comfy wearing it all day! Don't forget good shoes with tread, warm layers if your location could get cold, and a backpack to carry your items.

5) Create a timeline. Your photographer should provide a timeline for you based on the locations, activities, best light, etc.! Make sure to leave plenty of time for everything you want to do so that your day is chill and not stressful (:

This may seem like a lot, but you should have plenty of time to accomplish all of this before the big day. If you need suggestions reach out to your photographer! They've done this tons of times and can help you out!

How to elope part 3/5! Step 3: Hire An Elopement P How to elope part 3/5! Step 3: Hire An Elopement Photographer..

It might seem counterintuitive to look for a photographer before you have an exact location and date set, but trust us on this one. If you're looking for some help finding the perfect location, an elopement photographer who specializes in the area you're considering will be a huge help to you!

Elopement photographers have spent countless hours researching locations, scouring maps to find hidden gems, scouting places in person to see if they'd be a good spot for an elopement, checking the lighting, gathering permit requirements and sooo much more. We've already done the hard work so you don't have to!

Most of the couples we talk to typically only know the general area (eg. within a 2h drive of Denver) or national park they want to get married in (if that much) and we help with the rest. We'll gather information from you such as what scenery you're looking for, your guest count (if any), how accessible you want the location to be (hint- you don't have to hike if you don't want to!) and put together a location guide curated specifically for what would best fit your day.

You'll typically have to choose a package with your photographer before you book them. Keep in mind time goes by FAST on your wedding day, even when it's an elopement, and you'll likely need more time than you initially think (especially if any kind of hike is involved) Your going to be soaking in every moment and want to have each event captured to remember for the rest of your life. 4-10 hours is common, but so are multi-day elopements!

When looking at photographers pleeeaaase make sure to check their reviews AND look through full galleries (not blogs) from them! (We have a free checklist of questions you NEED to ask photographers before hiring them on our website. Really important info there, be sure to check it out.)

Don’t forget to follow along for the next steps! If you missed the first two- go back to my previous posts! 🫶🏼 #elopementphotography #coloradoelopementphotographer

HOW TO PLAN YOUR ELOPEMENT 🎉 Part 2/5 (go to my HOW TO PLAN YOUR ELOPEMENT 🎉 Part 2/5 (go to my previous post for part 1)

Step 2: Narrow down the time of year for your elopement.

Now that you have a general idea of the experience you want for your elopement and hopefully have some ideas of which area(s) you're considering, you'll want to think about when to elope.

It's important to think about what climate would make you the most comfortable and happy on your wedding day. Obviously weather is not something that can be controlled or predicted, but you should absolutely be aware of the typical temperatures and weather at the location the time of year you're considering. Keep in mind your home town may have drastically different seasons from your destination location, so it's important to do your research or ask a local.

When you're in the mountains it's much colder than the lower elevations! For example, in Colorado there can be snow in the higher elevations even in June. Some roads will stay closed in the spring and late fall depending on snow fall, which will limit what locations are accessible. While you might think of May as wildflower season in many states, in the mountains of Colorado it's typical to be July. While fall colors in Georgia typically happen the last week of October/start of November, in Colorado it's about a month earlier in most places!

Keep in mind weekdays are always better than weekends for elopements to avoid crowds, since most locations are also open to the public. You'll also want to avoid holiday weekends and local events for this reason as well.

Don't pick an exact date at this stage (even if it's some fun 1/2/34 number lol) You'll want to have some flexibility when you talk to a photographer to work with their schedule, or incase they suggest a different date for location-specific reasons.

Any guesses what step 3 is? Turn on our post notifications to make sure you don't miss it!
